An estimated 690 million people worldwide are going hungry on a daily basis. That’s just about 9% of the world’s total population. It’s a pretty bleak picture, when you consider that even one is too many. Sometimes a small meal is all it takes to turn things around for one person. But how do you actually know if you’re actually making a difference in someone's life? How do you know if you’re making an impact? What can be done in order to get people the support that they actually need?
Those same questions were pressing on us early in our startup days and they continue to drive us towards our goal today at 2x4®: to do everything we can in order to end hunger and malnourishment and promote access to quality nutrition around the world.
The 2x4® Global Food Drive
In the United States alone, nearly 1 in 7 people struggle with food insecurity. This means that 1 in 7 people in the U.S. go hungry every day. Those numbers, and the urgency of the worldwide hunger problem, propelled us to start the 2x4® Nutrition Multiplied - Global Food Drive.
The 2x4® Global Food Drive program designates that for every product we sell, two nutritious meals will be donated to those in need here at home in the United States, and abroad. Through this program, we hope to bring countless nutritious meals to children and families all over the world. We strongly believe that nutrition is a right, and that everyone deserves access to nutritious food. In fact, this is one of the core pillars that our company was founded on - “Always Give Back”.
How It All Started
To kick off our campaign, we coordinated our first ever 2x4® Nutrition Multiplied Global Food Drive in Nigeria. This involved coordinating a group of volunteers to pull together nutritious meals that were loaded with quality produce, putting meal kits together, and serving these nutritious meals to several orphanages in Nigeria. Their stories were incredibly touching, and they are just a small fraction of the help that is needed worldwide.
