Today we sat down with Pregnancy & Fertility Doula and Expert, Laura Gimbert. When we met with Laura a few months ago, she told us that the biggest challenge she was facing was finding a prenatal and postnatal supplement that she actually believed in to recommend to her clients.
“Sadly, traditional prenatal and postnatal supplements are not as effective as I would like them to be. I mean we all know this, it’s no secret. We take a supplement, and it goes straight through our systems! So what’s the point”.
So, she inspired us to co-create a multivitamin that actually works, and works for all mothers - those expecting, those postpartum, and those who just have a GOOD multivitamin!
Today, we want you to get to know Laura & the inspiration behind Mom’s Complete Multi. Take a look!
Tell us a little bit about yourself and expertise
When I became pregnant, I felt completely alone. I didn't have any mom friends, any knowledge about pregnancy or postpartum. I felt completely lost on the internet with conflicting information and it truly became overwhelming and hard to figure out how to educate myself properly; how to be able to make informed decisions while remaining calm and empowered.
As I navigated the pregnancy and postpartum stages on my own, I had to keep figuring things out along the way and it was hard, but honestly I truly thrived! It then became my mission to help other moms thrive too, and because of the social media impact that I had through the mom community, I felt the call to get my Doula Certification and my Pregnancy and Postpartum Nutrition Certification to back up my knowledge and be able to provide even more education, alongside my own personal experience.
Fast forward to today, I am now a mom of two and have 5 Pregnancy and Postpartum on-demand courses that teach exactly everything I learned through my back-to-back pregnancies and postpartum stages and certifications, so that other moms can TRULY get educated and empowered without the hustle and stress, with easy, step by step doula guidance and support without the 1on1 fees, making it much more accessible for everyone too!
What inspired you to create your own supplement?
Sadly, traditional prenatal and postnatal supplements don't work because you pee-out a majority of the nutrients making them just 5-10% effective. And during these stages of life (from preconception, through the whole pregnancy, postpartum, breastfeeding and mom life) we NEED support as it's extremely hard to meet our essential nutrient need and we lack sleep, we get exposed to virus constantly, our bodies are working out harder and our immune system is weaker... Moms need true support.
Well, this supplement is made with the revolutionary and exclusive 2x4 Nutristack technology that delivers all nutrients straight to the bloodstream and cells, where they are needed. Making it up to 95% absorbed by the body, instead of 5-10%; that’s almost 15 times more effective.
Finally: a pre and postnatal that's clean, 100% natural, and that WORKS. It's also vegan, non-gmo, gluten free, dairy free, sugar free, made with no fillers, no additives... tested for heavy metals and harmful pathogens. I am so proud of this product and to be able to support moms on a daily basis!
Do you have any tips or advice for moms on how to manage pregnancy and post-pregnancy stresses?
High levels of stress can cause health problems in moms and babies. So, we need to be more mindful about easy, stress-relief techniques we can incorporate in our days through pregnancy and postpartum.
My favorites? Sunshine in the morning, Hanging out of PJs, A walk mid-day, Guided meditation, Baths with Epsom salts, Peppermint or chamomile tea, Yoga, Acupuncture, Magnesium before bed.
We also added many stress-relief properties to Mom's Multi because we know how important it is to help moms manage their stress and anxiety levels through these stages, including the early mom years beyond postpartum!
In your experience, what is the most difficult thing when it comes to postpartum recovery? Any advice to overcome these?
The lack of support and education. Through pregnancy, we have regular medical support, we focus on preparing for birth and getting all the baby items ready. But once postpartum hits we suddenly have no professional help or guidance, our friends and family only seem to be around the first week or two, and we are left alone with the hardest job of them all: recovering physically and mentally, while taking care and nourishing a newborn.
Our pregnancies should focus on a preventative approach to getting ready for postpartum, to advance ourselves to the struggles and give moms a boost of confidence, education and organization ahead, to help understand what's a red flag and what's normal, how to set up boundaries, how to ask for help, to have the right tools and resources, to know how to respond to the common newborn and nursing challenges, and to overall know how to fuel and treat the postpartum bodies so that moms can recover right, mentally and physically.
This is exactly why I created my 5 Pregnancy and Postpartum on-demand courses; they give you doula support and education 360. So you aren't only taking a doula birth and breastfeeding class, you are also learning how to support your pregnancy, how to take care of your recovery in every way through postpartum, how to overcome newborn challenges, how to make a true postpartum plan, how to keep a healthy and flexible mindset through it all, and of course, how to prep for birth and breastfeeding too!
I hope these tips can help guide you through your journey! And remember, if you ever need more advice you can always reach out to 2x4 on Instagram, or ping me directly at @laura.gimbert!
